Shifting Gears: CREW Midwest 2013

CREW 2013 Shifting Gears

April 19th, CenturyLink Center,

Omaha, Nebraska

CREW 2013 WILL ENHANCE YOUR INCOME IN THE COMING YEARS!!!

Why do I make that statement?  Because the 25 member CREW Committee has worked diligently since September to create CREW 2013 which is FOCUSED on presenting subjects that will provide you information from which the “deal flow” for all of us will accelerate.

The CREW Committee has selected 13 “need for speed” hot topics ranging from senior living, land pricing, property tax, farm values to multi-family which will enlighten you quickly on these subjects.

OUR WORLD HAS CHANGED AND IS CONTINUING TO DO SO

For the first time in CREW’s 24-year history, we have included a session at 9:00 a.m. that will be devoted to bridging the gap between real estate and information technology.  Your real estate practice is continuing to be impacted by the economic development, design, site selection and construction of data centers and a superb panel of professionals in this area has been assembled by Jeff Wyatt from Colliers International to explain this relationship.

LAW UPDATE

At 10:00 a.m. a select law panel chaired by Rochelle Mullen of Cline Williams will discuss legal issues that affect your practice directly and will enlighten you on issues that you will encounter in your day to day work.

RESIDENTIAL UPDATE

It is a given that the growth and success of residential begins and is followed by the growth and success of commercial.  Leslie Peterson from Lamp Rynearson has assembled an outstanding panel of residential real estate experts who will provide insight into the patterns of residential growth that are being established for the coming years.

POLITICS:  WHO WILL BE OUR NEW MAYOR

There is little doubt that the leadership of our community is impacted by the person who occupies the Mayor’s office.  All five mayoral candidates have accepted CREW’s invitation to speak before you about commercial real estate and development topics that effect all of us.  Jeff Beals, World Group and renowned author will moderate a question and answer discussion between the two mayoral finalists.  The CREW Committee is preparing four or five questions that relate directly to our industry which will be asked of each candidate.

BREAKOUT SESSIONS

Our breakout sessions this year include “Accelerating the Retail Experience through Next Generation Tactics” presented by Mary Ann O’Brien, OBI Creative, and Rod Yates, OTB Destination.  Also, the TACK Architects and All Makes Office Equipment chief office designer will discuss the impact of the recession and the new thinking going on with respect to office size and configuration.  For the younger members in our industry, we are introducing a session on “Path to Success” which is a panel of young professionals who will share how they build and organize their tool kit for success.  They will also share their ideas on how best to accelerate your careers.  CREW has invited students from UNO Real Estate Department and the Creighton and Nebraska Law Schools to attend CREW and particularly this session.

THE IMPACT OF SPORTS AND CONVENTION AREAS “TOUR de NEBRASKA”

Sports arenas and convention centers have become substantial “drivers” of commercial real estate development.  Hear from the leaders of Nebraska’s sports and convention facilities as they explain the development opportunities being derived from these facilities.

BLOCKBUSTER KEYNOTE CLOSING SESSION

Barry Zoob, Colliers International, has done an amazing job of obtaining the top officers from Tenaska, TD Ameritrade, Kiewit Building Group and UNMC Physicians who will discuss their view of the current economy, their expectations for the near and longer term and how their views relate to job creation and the growth of commercial real estate.

As I said above, CREW 2013 WILL ENHANCE YOUR INCOME IN THE COMING YEARS!!!
